Following is a link to Samsung's company website, showing the price for a 1.0 ton window AC apprx Rs. 14,000. One thing I know that the prices shown on the company websites are higher than what you may get at the Dealer's shop.

No there are no specific reasons. Its just that after comming here I have realised all this. I weighed the 2 situations and I guess India was a winner!

Hey Indione, we usually dont get a one ton AC for our rooms, its 1.5 tons and that will easily cost around Rs 18000 plus for installation and stabiliser.

Think twice b4 taking any costly electronics back home for two reasons : customs will tear u apart literally and almost on all electronics u need a waranty which may not b applicable in India .Even in case of International its valid only on a customs receipt .
Plus u can get the same Market / SN Market @ comparable prices.
Better option carry clothes and other stuff .
