Not quite sure which is the most appropriate forum for this....
I am a Vegetarian International Student who has been in Canada for the past 2 years. To top that off, I am a proud Jain. It has been beyond difficult to live in Canada for these 2 years. To top it off, I live on Campus.
It is not time-efficient to cook (with the # of credits I am taking!), plus I am not the best of the cooks either. It is NOT easy to eat rice with dal everyday or subway everyday. I have been tirelessly looking for tiffin services, but they are not flexible enough. (i.e. deliveries on weekends only or not in the area or pick up only) Its just...so expensive to be able to eat vegetarian food. Fruits sell at atrocious prices (100 gms = $1. You have no idea how heavy a slice of watermelon can be. Or a banana. Or an APPLE.) It is not convenient to single-grocery shopping (plus the areas around here are expensive). I am just so...tired of it all.
How do other international vegetarian students do it?? I am curious...
Indian groceries are a bit expensive but I don't know which fruits you are talking about that sells 100 gms=1$. Bananas, apples, oranges, pears are all less than $1.50/pound. 1 pound is roughly equal to 450 gms. You can check out flyers if you want to!

May be you can find out other vegetarian friends on the campus and cook and share with them (and ask them to do the same!).
