Hi Nishitno1,
I guess the reason for poor response to the proposed cricket match could be the fear of getting hurt by cricket ball. How about playing the soft ball version of cricket? I feel that would be more fun and requires minimum gear.
What do you and others think?

Hi all
This ia a indoor match and will be a 6-8 players a side match depending on response and will be played with a special indoor cricket ball.It will be played with the Australian quick cricket format wherin each bowler bowls 2 overs and each batting pair bats for 4 overs and then retires.for each wicket the batting team is penalised 5 runs.we will not need any equipment as everything is provided by the Malton Community Centre. And we dont need gloves and pads unless someone thinks he is gonna get hurt with a soft ball.
For Rashmi bhai you sound like a perfect captain since u cant bat bowl or field.(lol)
I am tentaviely planning this match on june 11/12 and may change as per general preference.

Sucess is not an accident it is a result of hardwork with intelligence.
Hi Nishit,
Sorry for the late response. Though I was never a great player of Cricket but I would definitely love to play in this match. I can also contribute by giving some 'fun commentary' on the public address system.
Couple of suggestions:
1) Make the teams as mix of Female and Male players. That way, both sexes can have fun.
2) After the match, lets have an hour session for the kids (age group 4 to 14) where they will recite some 'Kavita' or 'Bhajan' or 'Shlokas' or 'Filmi Gaana' and there could be prizes for every kid who participates. We can contribute some money for that. This will involve the kids also in the fun.
3) We can ask some of our Desi friends to bring some instruments like Guitar or Kango or something else, if they know how to play them.
4) Decide the dates sometime in May like middle of the month so that people do not have to wait for long. If the first 'fun match' goes very well, we can organize couple more before the winter comes.
What do you say Desis?

Hi Nishito ,
Count me in as well. I can not bowl , bat or field and I am a very lazy person too so I will not run/dive in any case and most importantly since I am a buddy of Dalmiya so anything less them the captainship of the team is not acceptable to me
Kidding guys........
Its been many years since i played so it looks like a wonderful idea to meet with fellow canadian desis and have fun too....... so I m in .
Sanjeev's idea of having a mid may match is good .
Thanks.
Hi all,
Although its a fun thing, especially when you are getting in to it after a long time. But CRICKET is more lively when it is played with competitive spirit and hence MALE/Female wala idea humko thoda achha nahi laga. Let's play with full involvement and have the maximum enjoyment of it.
But as I always go with majority in such events, hence ON for anything and EVERYTHING.
Rgards,
VJ.
Hi everybody,
Pls count me too.
Its been quite some time that I smashed the ball around.
