Hello
I have an oath ceremony of MOnday and I wanted to know if I can apply for my canadian passport the same day as I cant take days off from work too much.
The day I take the oath, do I get proof of citizenship that I can take to apply.
In the checklist it mentions some documents, all of which I have except the proof. Can someone tell me if I get that proof the day I take the oath.
Thanks
Yes you can. You will get your citizenship card the same day.
Yes of course you can. But why are you in so much haste. heavens are not going to fall if you can wait for a day. Get and study your papers properly ,have a deep breath and go ahead. A small mistake can land you in soup. Afterall in canada you get a fast and smooth service. Then why worry. Relax .
In Scarborough, the passport office is a floor below citizenship canada's office. A friend of mine infact took the passport application form first and than went for the oath. The judge show this form and just laughed. He did applied immediately for passports.
So don't worry!

Yes you can. That is what i had to do due to unavoidable circumsatances.
But since it was raining that day there were just five before me to submit their passport application.
I had planned my trip to India and a week before i had to take the Oath.
They take away the PR card before the Oath and then give you a citizenship card and certificate.
I had to pay $30.00 to get my passport in three days.
Then i had to call the travel agent to give my canadian passport number.
I had to then go to the Indian embassy to get a visa to India ($200.00) for five years multiple.
If you plan to apply on the same day make sure you have the passport forms filled, photos, etc. There is quite a bit of running about to do otherwise.
Well, I think there is a hurry for me because I work in US and I commute to work everyday. And since I am on H1, I think I need to indicate at the POE, about the change in citizenship and for them to do what they need to do in my passport. Unless I am wrong in thinking that I need the passport to get back to work on Tuesday. I plan to apply thru rush processing or something like that to get my passport the same day. Somewhere I read that it costs extra $70 or something.
Thanks for all of your responses.
I certainly appreciate that.
Sunil,
I did get my citizenship on Fb16 and applied for the passport the same day and got it in 2 buisness day. But you need to prepare for your passport application in advance. Hope this will be helpful.
