hi guys,I applied for my citizenship in may 2003 counting the days from my landing in canada in oct'99.After landing and being here for a while left the country twice one for a breif period to settle my job in gulf..second to visit old parents in india.there were stamps for india, which i showed.but there were no stamps for gulf,so i did not disclose.however after all formalities they called me for interview and checked my passport(people said they wont bother to check).I was caught by a transit visa.however i aknowledge that it was a brief visit, explaining the officer about the dates on the transit visa.she wants the exact dates which i dont remember.however she accepted my written acknowledgement.after accepting she calls me after 2-3 months again to withdraw my application stating i was out for a longer time or face the judge.
my question is
1.why the visa officer wants me to accept something which is not true?
2.if she thinks that i do not meet the days required then why is she not simply rejecting my application?
3.if i have to visit the judge, what penalities do i have to face?
4.if i withdraw my citizenship application i end up losing my whole families citizenship cost of about $700 ,nor can afford a lawyer to appeal.leave alone the time spent on all this processing.
my only mistake was i hurried for citizenship i should have waited a little longer.i have seen people working abroad give lot of bucks to lawyers and get citizenships.
After staying here for more than 5 years they are questioning my residency.

You should ask the same "people" for advice now who adviced you to lie on your application ...

how can you blame a single student of copying when the teacher leaves the classroom!.what i mean to say is if your immigration officers dont put exit and reentry stamps then dont blame the sincerity of the people. In applications people look the proof they wont question the sincerity of the person.if there are no stamps after 3-4 yrs people wont remember the exact date and time they left the country.if there is loop hole in the system then dont blame us, share the blame and give us citizenship as we are still living here.

You are giving such a dumb answer that I have to laugh. It is like getting caught speeding in a car and defending your self speeding by saying , because I did not see the officer in the last 100 miles, or they did not give me a ticket before when I was speeding.

Dude ! You lied and you got caught . Face it . Nothing to defend or fight about

speeding car is evident .but i travelled is a fact ,for how long is not evident.judgement is based on evidence and not on assumptions.since the officer is assuming that i went for a longer can be a fact or cannot be.so in such cases she has to give me on the basis of benifit of doubt.otherwise she would have simply rejected my application.after my wrritten aknowledgement that i left the country for a short duration.she can not force me to accept that i wasnt living here at all.
though i have grown emotionally over this issue i will go to the judge and face.i wont give up.i just wanted if someone is out there who is facing simillar problem and could advise me.
dumbest are those who have half knowlege and believe jis ki laathi us ki bail.means one who is in authority can do anything.

Well

If you really lived here then take all your Tax returns, House mortgage , lease , Credit cards, Phone bills, Provincial medical and driving license history, Credit card bills for all the years and face the citizenship Judge.

If you are true and are able to convince the judge, he may give you citizenship but if not they may set up an enquiry on your case and you could end up losing you PR.

So think twice before you decide to do anything ..
