can somebody suggests me which course me and my husband should do to get a job in our respective fields? We are in UAE and planning to make our first landing in May-2004. My field is book keeping and husband's is banking. what salaries we should expect?
For service industry, job prospects of a fully bilingual are bright here.
If you are good at spoken English(without thick indian accent) and equally good french, I don't think you'll have hardtime getting a job in customer service.
Hence, you may want to get goin for french.
inquire which acctg. softwares are widely used here. I know about SAP R3, oracle, peoplesoft, etc... but you need handson experience of these programs.
In Accounting Quickbooks & Simple accounting are the best and widely used software. You need to have good experience and have good language skills to have a job. Apart from that If u are newly wed, dont have any issues and if u can afford then u should consider going to school here to get wat they call as"Canadian Education" This gives a better chance of getting a Job here.
If you have a good reference from someone the chance of getting a Job is good so concentrate on that. As soon as u come here dont apply for jobs wait for a week speak to few people, make your resume upto canadian level. Dont hurry in to any thing all the best.

Dude
If you plan to enrol is some short-term computer course, I am sorry to say (not to discourage you) that you may just find an entry level position in your field (if you are lucky). This is irrespective of your years of relative experience in the UAE or educational qualifcations. Even at an entry level position, your wages would be in the range of $10-$15 an hour.
If you looking to seriously upgrade your skills, then I suggest you enrol into the CGA (certified general accountant) program. You can select as many courses as you want and you don't have to take them at a University.
In case of banking, there are several courses that you can explore depending on the division that you want to work in (CFA, CSC, CGA etc). If you are lucky enough to get an entry level position in a bank, they may even pay for your courses.
CGA turns out to be a common choice of most of Indian CAs.
As I understand................
Depending on their exp., they get exemption upto level 3 or 4. People find less difficult to find jobs in their acctg field after having they resume say CGA LEVEL 4 STUDENT. CGA has its own student section where you can post your resume and this place is quite frequented by promising employers. Either way, knowledge of softwares is essential.
