One more thing you can try - thugh I never had to use it even though I travelled a lot when my children were infants since they were quite babies - give them some no-harm sleeping syrups (even Benadril used to be ok). It will keep them quite and make them sleep for most of the journey.

medicating an infant.....without any reason but sleep.....is a no no in Canadian law.....do not know if you can be prosecuted for the act when you were not a PR or citizen of Canada.......Chandreshji bach gaye kyuki app taab waha ke citizens thaey jahan par aphim chaata na bhi jurm nahi hai.....;)

Hello!
Air France operated Toronto-paris-B'lore/Chennai flights. It is a newly launched flight and hence i was able to get reservation during c'mas time + the cost is not that bad. $1900 for me leaving on 24th of dec. and arriving on Jan 9th. My wife will come on May 28th and hence it is $1800 for her. I feel that it is a very conveninet flight to reach india.

Thanks Chandresh for your idea. it is actually a very good and resonable idea but when my wife saw the replies to your idea she got panicky and refused to use medication. May be once the baby starts crying on the flight she may allow that.

For the infant a small suitcase of some dimension is allowed. nothing more than that. details can be seen on Air France website (the travel agent told me that).

Thanks for reading

CD members,
Just wanted to inform you that i am back after a 2 week vacation in India. Thanks for your tips for me when i traveled with an infant. FYI i just wanted to inform CD members that i had no problem with the 4 month old infant during take off and landing. we made sure that our daughter always sucked from a bottle or used a pacifier. Even the Air Hostess was surprised that the infant did not cry and she said that it was the first time that he fould that such a small infant did not cry. We used Air france and landed in b'lore airport. B'lore airport is very small and has only one baggage conveyor. besides it was very humid inside the airport. we waited for 1.5 hrs. for the baggage. Every one 's baggage is x-rayed (only one machine) once out of immigration. However the immigration counters are many and are fast too. The customs was looking for bribe for my used video camera but since we were accompanied by a canadian citizen (my daughter) he did not insist. He was also very surprised as to why we took 30 tins of 780 g. formula. We expalined that it was for 4 months for our daughter. He then asked why we were afraid to buy formula from india and we replied that since she was used to the other formula we decided to continue it.
We took a van to the airport and it cost $35 + $7 waiting charges. i gave him $3 tips. He waited 20 mins. for us when he came to pick us up. While returning i returned alone with my wife and daughter in india and the taxi charge from the airport (to Royal york and QEW ) was $27. i gave him $3 tips.
B'lore has grown but it still has many haphazard construction going on. It is not a planned development. But however some buildings esp. Food joints / Restaurants/ Hotels in B'lore puts Toronto to shame. It is of such nice style. However i feel that office buildings can be designed better.
Cost of living in india is very high now. I felt that i canot afford some things in india which i can able to afford in Canada (for eg. a $1 file folder in a dollar shop is rs. 120 in india, orange juice in a cheap shop is rs. 15, every one needs 2 and when i bought for 5 people, the bill was for rs. 150) .
The best thing i liked in india was my access to quality health care for peanut price. We went to a very expensive looking hospital at erode to give BCG injection for my daughter. We were ushured to the doctor in 1 minute. he spoke to us for 20 mins and we asked him atleast 10 question (remember that in canada you can ask the doctor for only 2 questions in a visit. All further questions need to be asked in subsequent visits.) in fact we asked the doctor all the questions at the same time taht we had asked the canadian peadiatrician in 3 months. He then sent for the BCG injection . Since it was not available in the pharmacy they had sent a person to get it from another pharmacy. that took 30 mins. we saw that he had no further patients during the whole time that we waited there. The injection came in 30 mins. and my daughter was injected so carefully (unlike canadian doctors who inject humans just as a vet. doctor injects cows). we paid rs. 50 for consultation and rs. 90 for the bcg injection and we came out so glad.
Thanks for going through my post.

Hi!
While going to bangalore you have around 3 1/2 hrs. stopping time. The problem with Paris airport is that it is very big but they donot have an effective internal circulation system (like metro). Once you land by plane , you will be taken by Bus to terminal 2F. you then will have to catch a bus to terminal 2A. once you land at terminal 2A, you and your baggage will be checked. There is only one machine and you will have atleast 30 people infront of you. There is no place infront of the baggage checking counter and hence you will have to stand on the stairs , near the baggage counter. We found that we could could be near the Paris -b'lore plane 1 hr. before departure (remember that since we had an infant we were the last to disembark etc..)
Once in b'lore , the airport is very small and has only one baggage x-ray machine, 1 baggage conveyor etc...
Of course both the flights look brand new.
Also the movie channel in the plane is not good at all (when compared to other air lines). you have an individual Tv and 5 movie choices. The movies are very bad ones.
All the best in your journey. The flight service is medicore and every one esp. the pilots speak very poor english.
