Guys,
I would like to know what are the metro areas we have and what are major cities included in each one.
I know only one - GTA, however upto what GTA covers I don't know. Is Oshawa part of GTA?
I want to list all the metro areas and while searching for information like classified etc would like to add search on metro area.
Please provide your input.
Thanks.

I know there are similar areas for Montreal and Vancouver. But not sure if those are exactly what GTA means.
Well, for GTA here is the map.

But I always wonder - what is Etobicoke or North York ? A part of Toronto ? A city ? Just an area ? Outskirts of Toronto ?

Great link of defining GTA. Thanks.
The other metro areas should be:
Montreal
Vancouver
Calgary
Kitchener/Waterloo
Ottawa/Hull
What else I missed?
And what town are included in above metro areas?

Stat Can is my fav. site

But can't find any mapping between Metro Area and Town/Cities. Looks like what lana2005 said is true for metros. Metro XYZ is whatever is east of abc, west of pqr, north of def and south of jkl
In my views, it's defined by kind of virtual boundaries. Area code, taxes, cable/internet providers, etc all depends on city boundaries. And non is based on metro areas.
Except the public transportation ! Yea, that makes sense. Look at the span of GO transit and TTC.
