1. Is it a coincidence that George Bush in visiting India next week?

2. India is growing fast but only economically. In terms of social development are we growing 'fast'? I do not think so. Secondly the economic divide is getting wider. The rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer. Such a stark divide in a vast nation does reflect in growing fast. What one spends in one evening at a restaurant would be sufficient to run a family of 4 for one month.

1. Possibly it is a coincidence. But the report about Davos summit was there in other websites earlier also. Lots of countries are waking up to the growing clout of India.

2. Rich & poor divide exists everywhere. e.g. I earn around $1300 a month here in Canada on which I survive here whereas many people buy TVs worth $4000.

I do know of people in India who were extremely poor, who were even working as "bai" cleaning utensils, clothes, etc. & their kids have studied & are earning much better.

Social development is happening definitely. But due to the huge population of India, it definitely takes time.

There are good & bad factors everywhere be it US, Canada, India or any country. As I have said, a lot more needs to be done.

Rgds.

Absolutely, I do not deny that. But my point is in India it is so very stark. And the gap is too huge.

The article mentions about the poverty of India & the good things happening in India.

As economic development takes place, its effect will slowly but surely trickle down to various sections of society.
