i wish if i could, open up a hugh and convinient indian shop in markham area..we really need one...actually, like pacific mall, at least with a few indian shops around where u have grocery and eatery as well...any one there? as our gujju families growing in number

This is excellent idea, but practically not possible. There are number of reasons, but the most important one is our nature - we never like to do anything co-operatively.


Second people always look for greater audience - they try to attract all kids of people at the same time. So when you try to design something only for Indians, people will consider you crazy.

On the other end - this is country of ideas and innovations. I don't think anywhere in North America there is deidated mall for indian items. There are bazars - like Albion and Gerrard, but no mall. Do you think that it is possible to do that?

I am little bit hopeful for that, but again, KASH HUM YE KAR SAKTE!

I was in Edmonton recently and visited a place called "Plaza 34" - this place has all the desi shops only. Desi restaurant, desi cloth shop, desi grocery and video, desi paan shop, desi lawyer, desi car dealer, desi furniture shop and more. Could this classify as an exclusive desi mall?

Hi, I live north of Toronto and am wondering where I can find the neariest
Indian shops? I have been to the small store in Richmond Hill but wish
for more selection. I am also looking to find a paan shop. Your help would be

Is that so important to have all desis at one place? I don't think that it is a viable proposal to have dedicated shopping mall for desis.

May be, but as an Idea this is good. Is is not required to have all shops at one place, but then why people go to Gerrard or Albion? Just because they get all shops at one place and the competition will get them good items.

The same concept, but in form of mall. But I don't think this will work.
