Can anybody please let me know what would be the best (& cheap) mode to go from Milton to Markham (by train or bus) ?

You need to go to Downtown Toronto.

From there you can get a GO Bus or GO Train. Someone in my office who was in Milton earlier told me that there are four trains in the morning and four the evening.

You could also go via Finch. There's a GO bus from Milton to Finch Subway. From Finch Subway you'll get Markham Transit.
