RAJ/DIMPLE -----thanks for your reply. A 15 year child born and brought up in india becomes canadian citizen after one of his parents becomes a citizen.The child decides to go back to India for studies after taking PIO. Then applies for OCI in INDIA. Stays in India for 5 years.Now applies for Indian citizenship.Will he also have to surrender canadian citizenship?

Dimple you are correct. They should have filled this form to renounce Canadian citizenship and they could have got visitor visa to Canada since one would not be a Canadian citizen from Canada's point of view.

Lucky284, when your child becomes Indian citizen, your child agrees to give up other country's citizenship.

If you require more clarifications, you can call any of the Indian consultate in Canada. CGI Toronto does not usually respond to faxes or emails.

As your child is CDN citizen, you can apply for OCI. Once you have OCI all the fees are at par with Indian nationals. So I was wondering why go for renounce and acquire scenario? you main objective is met.

Your thoughts?

Are you sure OCI education fee is same as that of an Indian citizen? Any links?
