I am enquiring about a new citizenship rule to be enacted. They will limit the amount of time a naturalized or eventually native born citizen can live abroad since they faced problems with Lebanese who had dual citizenship. Kindly inform me about this rule since there seems to a rumor that once you receive your citizenship, you can only spend a certain amount of time abroad in five years or four months in a year etc? And those living abroad who stay for long periods of time can get permission but require taxes and remittance in Canadian banks.
You have reched Canada and living here but still you dont know from where to get correct information? You herad some rumers and want to confirm those rumers by hearing more rumers. Why dont you go on http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/about/citizenship/questions-citizenship.asp
And check what law says and still not clear than call directly Citizenship Department to get the right info.

What is the validity of the citizenship "LAW" that one of our friends has mentioned about the the time that a canadian citizen can spend outside Canada? From the laws there is no such constraints i.e 4 months in a year or spending more than 5 years outside Canada.
Can any one authenticate the existance of such immigration/citizenship law?

Here is information about the OHIP. http://www.health.gov.on.ca/english/public/pub/ohip/eligibility.html
OHIP Eligibility
Am I eligible for Ontario health insurance?
You must have Ontario health insurance to use Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care funded health care services. You are eligible for the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP) if :
You are included under one of the following categories :
you are a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or landed immigrant, convention refugee, or are registered as an Indian under the Indian Act
you have submitted an Application for Permanent Residence or an Application for Landing and have been confirmed by Citizenship and Immigration Canada as having satisfied the medical requirements for landing

and you are in Ontario for at least 153 days in any 12-month period
Tourists, transients or visitors are not eligible for OHIP coverage.
Your eligibility for Ontario health coverage is not determined by whether you have a job or are unemployed, or where you pay your income tax. It is based solely on your meeting one of the above citizenship or immigration categories and on you making your permanent and principal home in Ontario.
Everyone, including babies and children, must have their own health cards. Always carry your health card with you. You should be ready to show it every time you need medical services.
Ministry staff can help you determine whether or not you are eligible for Ontario health coverage.
For more details about OHIP eligibility :
refer to Regulation 552 of Ontario's Health Insurance Act (can be purchased from Publications Ontario or viewed on http://www.e-laws.gov.on.ca)" rel="nofollow">LINK

Here are answers to 2 relevant questions from the above link.
11. What happens if I move?
If you are planning to move, you must contact us to tell us your new address and postal code as soon as possible. This will allow us to update our records and make sure that your payment gets to you on time. Even if your payments are deposited directly into your bank account, we still need to know your new address so we can send you important information and your yearly income tax slip.
12. Can I receive my pension outside Canada?
Usually, we can send you your payment outside the country for as long as you want if:
You lived in Canada for at least 20 years after reaching age 18; or
You lived or worked in a country that has a social security agreement with Canada and are considered to meet the 20-year residence requirement.
If you do not fall into either of the above categories, we can only send your payments outside Canada for the month that you leave, and for six months after that. For example, if you left Canada in January, we would send payments until the end of July. After July, the payments would stop. If you plan to be absent from Canada for more than six months, you must call us well before you leave. If you return to live in Canada, contact us on your return and we will start your payments again from the month of your return. Whether you are living in Canada or abroad, all payments are in Canadian dollars.
If you return to live in Canada, contact us on your return and we will start your payments again from the month of your return. Most recipients will receive their cheque in the local currency of their country of residence.
