i am a visitor in canada( indian citizen ) maintaining my leagl status.
i have obtained addmission at a college in canada and want to get a study permit.
I believe i need to send my application by mail to canadian consulate in buffalo.
My only concern is whether i need to send my original passport or a copy of it.
On the document checklist for study permit it says i need to send original passport and on the consulate website http://geo.international.gc.ca/can-am/buffalo/rightnav/study_permits-en.asp it says i need to send a copy of my passport.
can anyone please try and clear my doubts.
Also how will my passport be stamped with a study permit.
i already hold a multiple entry visitor visa.

hello thanx for replting on my question but let me tell you visitors cannot apply to alberta for study permit.
please be clear on the terms \"temporary resident permit holders\" and temporary resident visa holders\"
if you go through the website it clearly states that i am not eligible to apply as a visitor...only temporary resident permit(formerly known as ministers' permit \" are eligible to apply for the study permit.
anyone on the forum please try and resolve my question as soon as possible.

I HAD CALLED CIC SO MANY TIMES BUT THEY TELL ME THAT I NEED TO SEND MY APPLICATION TO BUFFALO CONSULATE.
YOUR CASE MIGHT BE OF A STUDENT EXTENTION AND NOT A VISTOR TO STUDENT CONVERSION.
IN THE MEAN TIME , I HAVE SEND MY APPLICATION TO VEGREVILLE...BUT HAVE NOT HEARD ANYTHING FROM THEM YET.
I AM JUST WAITING FOR THEIR OFFICIAL REPLY SO THAT I CAN GO AHEAD AND SEND MY APPLICATION TO BUFFALO CONSULATE.
AS YOU SAID EARLIER WERE YOU REALLY IN THE SAME SITUATION AS MINE WITH SAME KIND OF VISA.
