Can you please suggest best ways to transfer large amount of money from a bank account in the USA to the bank account in Canada?

Use XETrade. You may have to setup an account (takes about 7 days). The rates are much better than the banks.

I used xe.com gives good rates ( better than the regular banks ) and you can control the rate as well ...
