Hello Everyone,

My question may look familar to you all and may be answered. But, Believe me i am still in confused state.

My Question is that i am eligable for my citizenship and planning to apply next month and also i am expecting baby in next month.

My Baby will be automatically a Canadian Citizen.

Now, If myself and my baby are canadian's then to get lifetime visa to India, we have to apply for OCI.

Will my baby eligable for OCI ?

If suppose, in future i have to goto india for 5 years or Longer , then what is the solution for my baby.

Baby needs OCI or Visa ?

I don't know what to do,

Is it advisable to apply for Canadian Citizenship or not ?

Please suggest the circumstances i should face if i apply for Canadian Citizenship

Thanks in advance

You baby will be eligible for OCI if one of the parents is a cdn citizen. It is good for anybody to have OCI if you are planning on staying in India for a long time.

I still do not understand why you are confused. ALL the information about the OCI is on the indian consulate's website.

Yes your baby is eligible for OCI. OCI is better as it is for lifetime.

HI Cdn_Dude !
Pls correct me if I am wrong ..
The baby is elegible for OCI if one of the parents are INDIAN .. ( Not canadian as you posted which I blv might be typo ) ..

Goud
I still have to come across any BIG disadvantages of Canadian citizenship ( other than no agriculture land , no central govt jobs , details are on GCI website) .
Canadian citizenship will give a chance to fly in most of the parts of the world w/o visa formalities .. Some of the countries in Europe even allow to work legally w/o work permit for limited time . The list goes on ..
OCI will provide you benefits of living indefinitely in India and visit India whenver rqrd w/o a need of visa ..
Hope this info helps you to decide

You are wrong - what I had said was correct. For baby to be eligible for OCI, one of the parents must be a foreign national in addition to the requirement that at least one of them be also of Indian origin.
