I have been talking to a lawyer regarding getting a L1 Visa.
According to him L1A is meant for managers but only Senior Managers.
According to him if you are mid-level manager you cannot apply under the L1A category. You need to apply under the L1B category.
Not sure what is correct. The lawyer is pretty trustworthy and won't lie or bluff.
Any ideas?
Thks.
It all depends on how the case is presented and your qualification... L1A is for managers and executives, while L1B is for "specialized- knowledge" . Many of Indian IT firms send even PL's to US under blanket L1, mentioning role as PM.
I am in L1B but everything was arranged by my company so i would not be able to advice you on how to apply on a personal basis.

You know you are a desi when ........ You spew forth the virtues of India, but don't want to live there...............You've never had a tanning salon membership
My lawyer is very confident and says that I cannot apply under L1A eventhough I am a Manager ( not a PM ) and have 3-4 people under me.
That is meant for Senior Managers.
He said you will first have to get a L1B then a H1B and then apply GC.
This ways will take much longer than if one gets a L1A.
Thks.
