Hi Geeks,

Please help with my query regarding replacement AC adapter that I have just bought for my Dell Inspiron 6000 laptop.

Since my original AC Adapter went dead a few weeks ago, this evening I bought a replacement adapter from someone local at Craigslist. It's looking good and working fine as well as charging my laptop's battery normally. However, since the time I have plugged it in and after about 2-3 hours I found it's being heated. I never experienced the heat with my original adapter that came with my laptop 3 years ago. Since my battery is also dying, I need to keep it plugged in.

Do I need to worry about it being heated and hence, return it, or is it normal? I googled and found Dell recalled adapters made in 2002. I didn't find anything concrete when researched on net. But, it's not Dell's but Lite-On. Here are the specifications:

Replacement AC Adapter for dell
65W-AC Adapter PA-12 Family
Model No: PA1650-05D2 DP/N: F7970
Lite-On Technology Corporation.
Made in China.

Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks, well in advance.

Thanks guys. I have been surfing for the last two days and it is working good now. It only warms up a little when charging the battery. Otherwise, looks good now.

Thanks again for your responses.
