Hi
I had applied for citizenship in the month of July 2008, got a response back yesterday stating that I need to go for fingerprinting. My security check and background clearance is perfect, but inspite of that, CIC is insisting on fingerprints. 
They say my picture looks similar to a Sin-laden (brother of Bin L) 
Just kidding!!
Anybody who is in similar situation, or has gone through the same, pls comment. Where do I go for fingerprints, and how much do they charge?

Few reasons:
1. You name could be common with many other
2. There could be another person as same as your name with criminal record. They want be sure that it is not same person.
3. You could be SIN LADEN even if you are joking.
I was asked to do so. You walk to commissioners office and give your finger prints. They will send your finger prints to RCMP which takes 3-4 month. You should be given name and addresses where you can go for finger print. Five years ago I was charged for $20. Could be same or more... you need to check with them.
The fee is $50 now.
I received CIC's letter to pickup my renewed PR card. Pickup has to be made in Aug - specific date and withing those 6 hours
I'm supposed to 2 pcs of photo ids and my old PR card.
9-11 has changed the world in lot many ways.
The specific date is the earliest you can pick up your PR card. You can pick it up any day after within 90 days.
