I have applied citizenship in Dec 05, 2008 and my acknowlegement came in May 01,2009. As per their letter it will take 12-15 months to complete whole process. It means my 15 months will complete in next July 2010.

I am planning to go back home 4 month from Nov 2009 to Feb 2010 but I am afarid during my absence they might send me cititzenship test or oath. Is it possible I could inform them not to send any letter during this period.

Did any have the same sitution. Kindly share with me.

I got the same situation. I am not planning to go to India, unless I complete the process. Basicallly, you should be here to give test and then take oath and this may come at any time after 5 -7 months of your application. The time between test and oath may be around 2-3 months. But no body knows, these time frames and it depends on individual cases.

If you want to leave, you can give your friend's address by paying money to Canada Post and they will redirect the mail to your friend's address and you can leave. Then be in touch with your friend.

I think it is not a good idea to inform CIC that your leaving, as it may delay the process. But still you are eligible.

I'll strongly suggest you to think through before you go.

I've known people who had to postpone the oath and at the end of the day their new oaths were delayed so much and they were also twice called to the Judge to show their passports.

If it close and you are doubly sure that you'll oath will be close to the time of absence I'll not risk unless you can fly back on a short notice to do the formalities.

Then you go into a newer problem that you are now a Canadian citizen and you'll need visa, PIO or OCI to enter India. Each of them have their own time, cost and hardship attached.
