The option of going to the airport directly is not practical, because of other things that needs to be taken care of. However, the CIC call center advised me to go early and request them for an early test (or atleat by 1-1:15pm) by showing them the air ticket. Hopefully, they should be able to accomodate me, or else will have to reschedule the test date.
Yesterday, I made a dry run from the center and back to my home, via Confederation, didnt take more than 25 mins driving time. So worse case scenerio, even if I leave at 3:00, should be home by 3:30 and the airport by 4-4:15 (with everything playing out smoothly). Still should be able to catch the 5:30 pm international flight.
Any idea whether Air Canada has any special restrictions as to "reporting time" for intl flights?? Can they stop us from boarding, if we arrive late, say around 4:30-4:40 for a 5:30 flight?
And, thanks desi-friend for the test links, appreciated!

You can go early and request them to get you in early as you have to catch a flight .....
They may accomodate you .....
There is only one slot for citizenship exam every day so all applicants for that day have to appear during that single slot (apparently 1:00 pm).
Similarly, there is one single slot for the oath ceremony and all applicants selected for that day have to appear during that one slot.
The test won't take that long - the main delay is the document verification, seating arrangements for everyone, distribution of tests, etc.
5:30 domestic flight should be easily doable.
International should be ok as well if going directly.

Its a code sharing flight by AC with Luftansa, with AC upto Frankfurt, and then Luftansa upto Kolkata.
Both their check-in deadlines are 60 mins before departure, which in this case would be 4:30. Also, I have the option of printing my boarding passes if I opt for web checkin, which will save me the hassle of queing up at the counter.

If that's ok, then do so.

Reporting time is 2 - 3 hrs. in advance.
What if there's heavy traffic?

It is do-able and will probably work out, but there is a risk involved.
Work out alternative routes if there is a traffic problem.

Hi
Yesterday, I went to the Mississauga test center with all my docs, told them if they can accomodate me, since I will be travelling on my test date.....showed them my air ticket..... The gentleman (a desi) who co-ordinates the initial line-up ushered me in and after a brief wait checked my docs and allowed me to write the test. The CIC call center had told me that test dates, once scheduled, cant be undone, but there's no harm in checking it out with the actual test center, which I did, and hit gold.... Finished the test in 10 mins.

-If an interview with a judge is required, is it on the same day, or is it scheduled at a later time/date?
