After we apply for citizenship, and have completed the required residential days, do we still need to reside in Canada until this entire procedure is done ? Or we can relocate to US/India and give the "outside" canada address for any correspondence?

There is no such explicit rule that you must reside in Canada after applying for the citizenship. However, it is your responsibility to maintain your PR status until you become a citizen.

You cannot give the address outside of Canada - any change of address you give to the CIC must be Canadian address.
