^^
Had to laugh hard again!
It's really sad you don't know nothing bout this culture.

Brother, it's called dressing sense.

Try googling " hip hop style " or something like that.

I know more bout black gangs than anyone else on this forum and the major ones dispersed long back.

I'm well aware.
It's almost nonexistent if you compare it to what it was I'm the past 3 decades.

There were crips and bloods, now most of them have dispersed.

And wearing a cap backwards , baggy jeans , hood , sneakers is pure style.

When you see 'em with pink or greenish bandannas, then you can say they're from a gang.
But you won't spot real Gs these days.

All dispersed after the killings of PAC n BIGGIE , the scene shortened and now most of the blacks are legit.

Drug dealing prevails, but there are white dealers too, so you can't blame it on the blacks.

And drug dealing is a hood thang, normal in north America - it's not a gang war thang or something.

a3venom - I admire your spirit. You seem to be very passionate about hip-hop and I wish you all the success if that's the path you desire to take.

Now, let's take a look at the reality for many blacks. In many entertainment related professions, including sports, music, etc, only a small percentage make it to a level where these professions would support them as a career. This reality is lost on many of the black youth who focus themselves on emulating the stars. With that focus, they begin dressing up with the style that has been discussed in this thread. Also, they lose focus on the basics such as education. This is partly due to the poverty, lack of guidance, single parentage, exposure to crime and such.

When they one day realize that they are not meant to be the Michael jackson or Jordon or Kobe of the new generation, it tends to be too late. Meanwhile, the dressing sense and the attitudes have penetrated within them deep for many years that they are either unable or unwilling to change. When this set of population of blacks now try to enter the traditional workforce, it almost becomes impossible for them to obtain a decent career and a new generation of blacks have entered the vicious cycle.

I have been part of hiring production line workers long time ago and 95% of the applicants were blacks. We tended to reject a majority of applicants due to their inability to speak clearly (you know, they have gotten into a style of speaking) or inability to look half decent (again, style of dressing) and inability to perform simple mathematical calculations required for the job. A very many blacks conveniently title this rejection as discrimination.

So, yes, dressing to a certain style can be a sign of individuality and pride if you have become self-sufficient in your career or can be a disastrous liability when one has failed to blossom and is looking for an alternate traditional career path.

Obama did not become the President because of his color. He has the necessary political skills (whatever that might be) backed by education and career history that suits the job description of a President. Of course, once you get that job, you can screw it up anyway you like for atleast 4 years ;)

The above holds true for anybody of any race.

There are lots of wasted white kids too...
Ever heard of white trash?

It's not that blacks are alone in the junkie game.

There are lots of wasted kids in every ethnic group. Take for instance the hispanics in the US or the Indian gangs in western canada. However, the percentage of blacks falling into this trap is disproportionately higher. It is a combination of factors that result in such a situation.

Having said that, there are several individuals who with tenacity break out of this vicious cycle and make a name for themselves.
