Hello frds,
My friend in Montreal wants to visit me in St. Catharines this weekend. What would be the cheapest and quickest way. given the summit in Toronto this weekend, would it be advisable to travel from Montreal to Toronto and I pick him up from there?
please advice
My 2 cents...
Don't even think of visiting Union Station on the weekend.
Secondly you'd have to check Via Rail schedule. Here's what is posted on Via's website:
VIA Rail Canada wishes to remind travellers that to avoid congestion in the downtown Toronto area, it will move its operations from Toronto Union Station to suburban stations during the core G20 summit dates, from June 24 through 27. Additionally, due to extremely low advance ticket sales, VIA will also be operating a weekend schedule around the core summit dates
So the train from Montreal will probably be terminated at Oshawa or around there. Again for you to get to Oshawa, you'd have to cross downtown TO (via Gardiner Expressway)
