Very true by Ash 20 we look for shortcuts all the time.

I have experiences in Surrey, BC not sure of other places but here it is:

I fear the following professionals, qualified in India operating in Surrey BC:
- Doctors; most of them look like Gabbar Singh
- Lawyers; they cannot draft even one decent letter, my daughter in UBC can do a much better job
- Pilots; it gives me a relief when I see a Canadian pilot
- Engineers; if it were not for the local municipal building inspectors most of the houses in Surrey would be falling down
- Architects and Designers; if you enter their offices there is not even one book or a magazine on building designs. Revit design software is non existent in their vocabulary.
- And many others...

Please note; not all are so bad but most of them are... total crap!

Canada Authorities and employers are not only denying credentials to Indian degrees/experience but also of all other countries UK, europe, Australia included.
There is no relationship between fake degree menance which is prevalent in south asia and job provision in Canada. There are other reasons - lack of communication skill is on top, lack of knowledge of doing things in canadian way in other words not having experience in canada environment & quick adaptability etc. Remember, no business house does charity , they want best of the talents in market, if they are available and relevant to work , companies will hire them.
Canadian IT companies hire Indians (even those with fake resume) in thousands on good package. Programmers are generally not in public dealings so they are not checked rigouresly for their canadian experience. Consultants who work directly with canadian clients are checked accordingly.

All occupations which demand public dealing are tough to get into. for example you can become trucker, fork loft operator, factory worker with few weeks course here. I agree with earlier post about indian origin lawyers and some doctors working here are pathetic. They are actually. I had bad experience with simple public notary, I prefer to deal with Canadians who are genuine in their approach and do not tend to extort.

All in all it is very very subjective and occupation specific so saying in general it is tough to settle in Canada is wrong..see your ability and adaptability and visualise requirements of companies. The degrees, the experience comes later. Do not come to canada if you cannot 'act' (in the begining) like canadians.

One tip for aspiring immigrants (its not funny) - Do watch lot lot of american/canadian tv serials or drama movies (not action). The day you start to connect with them like you do with ektaa kapoor's junk, you are ready to come here. Its not funny, I am serious about this.

of course, Indian education is not enough to compete with west. Except Information Technology, India lacks in all other technologies. More over corruption, scandals etc., You can buy Engineering degree certificates from very reputable universities. One of my hyderabadi colleague asked me if you want, I can arrange engineering degree certificates for Rs 50000. only you have to tell the year of course join. You can get every thing what you want. Today education is sold for even 30-50 Lakhs.

Wikileaks says, Indian PM is misleading public. What only PM, everybody in India is misleading each other. Cabinet ministers are misleading, Government employees are misleading, Indians them self misleading each other. Ask any Government employee How I can do this job. He will not tell one answer. I have great experience in Chennai passport office where I asked how to change parents name in my daughter passport. Office employee said to me a wonderful procedure that you can't understand ?? No discipline, no hospitality, no sympathy, no pity etc., what a country yar. Passports are distributed in the embassies / passport offices is something like free food distribution !!!!!!!!!!.

Whatever is mentioned by san-hugo is absolutely true. we are lack of many skills. India can become economically super power but not technically. Copying is great trend and technology transfers are ever great. but indigenous technology is dead.

Today Politicians are buying parliament members. They are selling secrets to foreign countries for money. So our leaders are great don't be surprise about citizens.

Recent scandal by Andra students in USA has significantly damaged Indians reputation. Every student paid more 20-30 lakhs as a Bribe just to get VISA and admissions in US university.
