I would like to suggest buy Carolla or Civic, both are reliable and fuel saving cars with very low maintain expenses.
Make sure to buy from a reliable dealer, like Toyota or Honda, they have many leased returned good vehiicles. You end up paying $2000 more but it is worth because they 99% sell healthy vehicle. They always test drive, maintain required needs and certify before selling to customer. Faulty vehicles they always pass to local dealers in wholesale.
If you buy from local dealer, do not buy out of Ontario vehicle, some times hard to know reliable history, salvage title or odometer.
Private sale are always cheaper, but it has to be accident free and with 1-2 owners, must checked very carefully about performance and condition of the vehicle.
Some dealer won't allow to take vehicle out for your mechanic to check but you can call your mechanic to drop by at dealer and have a look at vehicle and you make a purchase. (It may cost you $50-$100 extra. You can shop around and choose 3-4 vehicle in advance then ask mechanic to view and suggest the one to select for purchase).
There is one used car dealer called (QUALITY AUTO ? ) on Lawrence Ave E @ Pharmacy. I have seen some good vehicles there.

Search is still going on ....

Thanks all, l really appreciate your help
I do not trust Quebec cars, some cars looks great with 30-40K km on it but in reality they are used for taxi, rental and carpool purposes and actual kms are 10 times more. If I don't trust, I don't buy.
Ontario cars are reliable, at least you can ask and check vehicle history package to know how many people have owned this car, how long each one have kept it too. If more often owner change MEANS some thing wrong with vehicle---Do not buy. Less chances to have played with odometer because MTO has record of original odometer km records through emmission test.
**You can get idea through service record as well, if owner is selling himself.
Here One Owner Camery (4 cyl ) 86k km $12888, but you can bargain a little to make $12500 include tax. Looks a beautiful car.
