At the time of the interview, I did not know who he was. One of my co-worker told me his name and the dept he worked. I sent the note same day the interview took place. Later I did serach his name, found out that he is one of the big guts.
I should have just kept quiet. Now its too late. I thought that since I did not know him (knew others well), I sent him the note. I can only apologise and hope that we all move on beyond this. Its almost two weeks since the interview and the note.
Not sure how people take it here. Decision would be taken this week, just keeping my fingers crosed. Experience wise I am in the top.
You may have inadvertently gotten him into trouble.
With all the scams being unearthed in India, senior officials don't like getting linked to any archived electronic evidence that might at a later date land them in trouble and catch them with their pants down.
Your email note , which was sent to him exclusively, makes him look guilty of nepotism.
On the other hand if you had approached him in person at his parking slot with a bottle of "Hundred Pipers"...........just saying.
Well, as I expected could not make the list, due to the email issue. I am told that the big guy was adamant that I was taken out off the list. Its ok, lesson learnt. But the silver lining is, according to the insiders, he was ok if I applied for the job next time after n few weeks that he may consider my candidature, unless I do something stupid before that. I will keep quiet, let the time heal and cool things. Next time I will be ready and be more careful.

A close aquaintance of mine who returned to India from Canada, in fact was given a second chance at interviewing and apparently the Thank You note she had sent the employer had made the impression
She landed the job after the second chance
