Here is a list of resources we have used in our newborn's first month. They are free and very helpful.
Telehealth - they answer all your questions on things like baby fever, rashes, feeding, etc, over the phone and refer you to a doctor if needed.

St. Elizabeth's Nurses - come to see how mom and baby are doing after they come back from the hospital. They can also teach you a lot of care techniques for yourself and the baby.

The Healthy Babies Healthy Children program administered by Toronto Public Health - they offer lactation support and counseling groups on how to take care of a new baby.

Medvisit - these are doctors who offer housecalls for patients too sick to travel to the hospital. They can't perform procedures but generally can offer prescriptions for emergencies.

Telehealth and Medvisit can be used by anyone, not just for babies.
