I am a Canadian citizen since 1988. On my citizen certificate back then was my married name. I only now realise the old name, I have been divorced since 1986. I kept my name because of my kids. Now I need to update the certificate to my new name. What steps do I have to take and is there a cost involved?
Here is a link to apply for a new or replacement citizenship certificate - http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/CIT0001ETOC.asp
As you scroll down, it provides instructions for name change.
You will need additional documents to support your name change before you can apply for the replacement citizenship certificate.

Thanks very much for the information, all of my current pieces of identification is in my correct name so its not a problem to supply copies of this name change.
Which citizenship address do I send in the request to?
I appreciate yur help.
