Hello there,
I hold UK student visa on my Indian passport. I have studying in the UK since
September 2012. I just received my Canadian citizenship and got Canadian passport. I still have one more year of study in the UK and I have to surrender my Indian passport to Indian embassy. Now what do I do in this situation? How do I transfer UK student visa from my Indian passport to Canadian passport? Or is there any other way?

As a Canadian Citizen, things would be easier for you to extend your stay in UK, whenever it requires.
Indian Embassy people are expected to return your Indian Passport after cancelling the same. You can still use the UK visa by attaching the cancelled Indian Passport to your new Canadian Passport.
In addition to the above , 2 things .
a. Check with your Univ, if there s a change of status procedure in cases where a person changes citizenship during study. You might need to advise them about this.
b. You have a time limit of 2-3 years to cancel your Indian Passport without penalty ..Just do not use it for travel anymore.

You obtained a Student Visa on an Indian Passport and it was valid till its end date or till the last day on which it expires. Any entries made in that Passport are still good. They will hold good if you renew your Indian Passport as they become an extension of the previous Passport of the same Nationality.
After acquiring your New Nationality and Citizenship, which is Canadian, the British Government has to be informed about the change that has ocurred in your 'STATUS' and at that time they might insist upon and ask you to apply again for the Student Visa as a Canadian Citizen. This is just a formality and you will have to go through the troubles of establishing yourself all over again. The main reason being the cancellation of the Indian Passport. The validity of such a VISA also expires with the cancellation of the Passport.
Since it is your third year of study, your new Visa will be good for the next 11 months till your completion of the studies there.
The reporting requirements might get eased while holding the CANADIAN Passport and it will be different to the one you followed while holding the Indian one. You can inquire about the over stay there with the New Canadian Passport from the authorities. Please contact them as soon as you get a chance.
