This Mumbai player like his predecessor seems to like justifying his presence in the team more on reputation than on performance.
Just before the tour Rohit had made a record breaking 264 in a home ODI against Sri Lanka. But that was an under arm bowling wicket. When it really mattered in the 2nd innings of the Adelaide test, he got out for a paltry 6 runs.
Had Rohit as a specialist batsman given decent support to Kohli at the other end, India would have comfortably won the test match which it finally lost by 53 runs. His body language was found woefully inadequate.
In this Brisbane 2nd test, from the overnight 309 for 4, India slumped to 404 and Rohit not adding to his previous day score of 26.
More than skill. talent etc., the selectors must give importance to competitiveness on the field like a Dhoni or Jadeja only which wins the day for the team.
But stalwart commentators like Gavaskar or Manjarekar, may be out of regional consideration, did not utter a word about his poor performance.
We do not know how many more years Rohit for realising his "potential" and win matches for India.

Good point Ramar.
However this is too often common with North Indians / regional players being given the preference.

Rohit Sharma plays for Mumbai in the Ranji. Also he is a close pal of Dhoni. Now Dhoni is gone from the tests, lets see what will happen to Rohit Sharma. Even Jadeja is out of tests. May be he should be brought back for the last test.
