In my 12 years of stay in Canada, this happened very first time and I want to share with other members within this group. My car and home insurance was coming up for renewal this March and I was shopping around to save few $$$ , finally I got comparatively cheap ( $ 500 saving annually for both home and Auto insurance) quote with economical select than my current provider TD Meloche Monex. So I purchased the insurance with them effective March '2015. Today when I called in TD to cancel my policy, they tried to retain me and willing to beat the price . Actually they have now retention department to keep the customer happy. ( something like Rogers and Bell for home phone/Internet deals) Any way they could not match the price with other company , so finally I canceled the policy with them. At first I thought they were joking , but they were serious in retaining me. Any way guys, please shop around for insurance if your renewals are coming in near future and you also can get benefit like me. Thanks

I pay only $80/month for my car insurance(dodge caliber-2007) in Saskatchewan
$85/month for home insurance.

are you paying less than that ?

GTA in 2012: 4 years of driving experience, Etobicoke address (not even Brampton), Corporate Discount, Matrix 2009, No accident/history = $379/month with TD (cheapest after shopping around).

Moved back to BC in 2012: All of the above = $179/month with ICBC.

BC, 2015: 7 years of driving history, Van Suburb address, No corporate discount, Matrix 2009, Wife hit the car while backing from the driveway in 2013, so have a history now = $217/month with BC's ICBC. If didn't have the accident, I would've been paying $160/month.

Enough to scare me away from Toronto, besides the nerve-racking cold and rush hour 401. :).
