Sounds highly fictitious. If I did not know better I'd say the whole account is written by a desi with a peeve against his ilk.
Anyway, I dont have a dog in this fight.

'Clannish nerds': US techies on desi IT pros

http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/articleshow/776884.cms?headline='Clannish~nerds':~US~techies~on~desi~IT~pros

interesting..

Try to gather all desi stereotypes (that desis have of themselves) and write an article. What do you get? Take a guess.

I agree with Jake's statement. Although I've met some really wierd desi characters who fit some of the desi characteristics in the article, I've met equally wierd Americans.

One thing though, I've noticed that even though Desis in Canada earn significantly less than their counterparts in the States, I find that they spend more. Maybe its just my impression but I did notice that the desis in the states were SO much into "savings" mode, those earning 75-80 k would have virtually no furniture in their homes. Against that, the desis here who do a labour job still go out and furnish their homes as decently as they can afford to.

Desis here even dress cooler. I haven't seen too many dressed in office pants with shiny white sneakers (usually Nike), they're everywhere in the states. :)

i do not have much knowledge about what they do in US or what they do in other communities and nobody from other communities said anything derogatory about desis infront of me.

but from my observation (of desis ofcourse) i did notice some weirdos..

like a wife asking her husband to get some pencils from office .. no not from shop.. when pencils stock at home are finished.. she also told her daughter in the mean-time try with the pencils available in the library. for that.. kid replied.. pencils in the library are half cut.. she want full pencils.. :)

my ex-boss.. bringing in sugar, ketchup, salt sachets whenever he notice our office reserves are low. when we see those burger king/mc donalds packs.. one of our employees would go and buy things .. :)

common thing.. i noticed in many.. taking napkins. order a coffee and empty their napkin stock!

Fictitious but true.
