We're going to be hitting a significant milestone shortly, the 10000 member mark. I could write a long corny speech on the trials and tribulations of the site to date but I'll pass.
Instead I'd just like to take this opportunity to thank everyone (and I mean EVERYONE) for making the site the information resource it is today. When I signed on originally (with a couple of hundred other members on board), there was hardly any content on the discussion forums. But I could see the immense potential right away. We've realized some and yet there's a long way to go.
And I can assure you that your suggestions have not gone unheeded, although it may seem that way sometimes. Its just that for Garvo and I, between managing the grind of our personal lives and paying the bills, it is difficult to find the time to implement them soon enough. Anyways, from what I've read so far, the two that demand most urgency are
1) Set up a Success stories section. I think this will play a critical role in adding balance to the site and inspiring landed and yet-to-land immigrants. The format of this section will be the Article format so that the stories don't lose their relevance in discussions and arguments.
Garvo and I will start by picking such stories already existing on the forums. If you'd like to submit a story, please PM or email either one of us.
This should be up and running in approx. a week but please don't hold a gun to my head over it.
2) Set up a FAQ to avoid repeated questions. Could not agree more to this. But we need volunteers to author the FAQ. Please send me a quick PM or email if you're able to spare some time for this.
-----
I know there's more stuff to do but I would say let's start with these two.
Also, I would like to introduce two new moderators. If you've been following the site long enough, you won't need an introduction since both of them have been quite active on the website for a while now. They're none other than our Mishtar India and Chandresh.
I think I should stop here before this actually becomes a long corny post (if you think it already has, you shoud've seen the other one I drafted).
We've come a long way, baby! And this is only the beginning.
