Hello,
Do I need my Indian passport and the PR card when returning back to Canada? My passport is at SF Consulate for renewal and I want to get back to Canada.
Any previous experience travelling with just a PR card into Canada or suggestions would greatly be appreciated.

However, you can take a chance.
Recently on a trip back from the US, the Canadian immigration official did not ask for my passport - just asked for the PR card.
But that was like 12'o clock at night, and he appeared tired as well
However, it is highly unlikely that they will let you board a plane from the US without a passport.
If you try driving, but again no guarantees.

thanks, I guess I rather just wait till I get my passport.
Do they scan the PR card? This is my first time going into Canada with a PR card. Are we suppose to present them with a passport without them asking or do we just give them the PR card and show them the passport only when they ask?

Show them if you want, don't show if you don't - they'll ask for it if they want.

Is there a port of entry telephone number or something where I can call to just check and see if I need my passport? Because If I can travel without my passport, I can get my parent's to mail me the passport at a later date.
