Hello,

I was thinking of a career as asales rep. in the real estate industry. Have gone throught he OREA site and had some doubts. Or may be need some reclarification.

1. I have to complete Phase 1, phase2, and phase 3 to qualify as temp. sales rep.?
It that it? or I need to also get some more or other exmas cleared?
2. What happens after the 3rd phase? How do I approach a broker or do I register with a broker? Is there any prequalification apart from the above?
3. Can some one advise the career prospects an a real estate sales rep. ? What are essential things to have? Any specific quality?
4. So if I decide to take up this as a career, i have to wait till I complete phase 3, even to earn some commissions?
5. Any other sites I need to look into?

Thanks in advance for the info.

Answers:

1. After passing out Phase 1,2 and 3 you can start to sell, however you must complete 3 more exams within 2 years. More details at :

http://www.oreacollege.com

2. Start interviewing brokers, and evaluate the company, broker's office, support and training, before you join one of the real estate broker. The only pre-qualification is the successful completion of Phase 3 exam.

3. Check out the online Real Estate Simulator at Royal LePage website.

4. Yes

5. See #1

Good luck,

Can I speak to them or will they entertain me even before I have cleared any of the phases?

Do I need to register with RECO - is that mandatory?

Once again, thanks for the info.

Just went through the test. Great experience. More clarity on what it takes to be sales rep. Although I have been in Sales and Marketing for over 14 years. Thanks for the link.

You can speak to Brokers at any time. Some people even join the brokers as soon as they register in phase 1 and attend training programs. You would not be allowed to trade in real estate (sell, solicit clients etc.) before you receive your license as per RECO guidelines.

thanks for your replies till now.

I am preparing a list of brokers but can you give me a name or url of any association / body / board where all the brokers are listed.

Secondly does one necessarily have to conduct business under the board he /she is registered under?
