I support US and believe world is better when US is super power than others like China, Russia and Middle east. Me and a few million Indian technology workers (and their families) are directly benefited by US/Canada. Having clarified my stand, Here are my views.

1. What they gain from Vietnam war ?

Its a cold war era communism vs non-communism war. US doesn't believe in communism and supported south Vietnam. Isn't china, soviet union, north korea and cuba involved here?

2. Why they support Iraq against Iran ? What they gain ?
US and Iraq have extensive political and military cooperation at that time. Iran did the first strike and US retaliated. Here is some reading from wiki.

U.S. attention was focused on isolating Iran as well as maintaining freedom of navigation. It criticised Iran's mining of international waters, and sponsored UN Security Council Resolution 598, which passed unanimously on 20 July, under which the U.S. and Iranian forces skirmished during Operation Earnest Will. During Operation Nimble Archer in October 1987, the U.S. attacked Iranian oil platforms in retaliation for an Iranian attack on the U.S.-flagged Kuwaiti tanker Sea Isle City.[78]

3. What they gain from gulf war ?
Saved Kuwait from Iraq.

4. What they gain from Afghan war ?
Again retaliation. What else you think US should do? Go to court and sue bin laden or issue repeated puppet warnings till people forget the whole 9/11? They didn't wipe out afghan from world map. They are after taliban and al-quida.

5. Why they support Laden / Taliban before 9/11?
Its a cold war against Russia. Taliban is sort of mercenaries/ outsourced work for US.

6. India asks US support to fight against terrorism for last 25 years but US supporting to the sponsor of terror by millions of $ and weapons .

Not really. We don't have good relations with US till recent times. We are in so called NAM.

7. What US gained from supporting pak against India ?
Again, We are not with US most of the past. Pak was a clear US ally. Now its changing.

Metouk: I will tell you why US is fingering in most parts of the world.

Please recall the Kandahar IC-814 hijack that took place in 1999. India was helpless enough to fly over to Afghanistan, to handover some of the most wanted terrorists. We were simply unable to pursue the terrorists diplomatically, politically or militarily.

When faced with a similar situation, United States smashed Afghanistan to pieces for harboring their most wanted man, Osama 'dustBin' laden. They did not request or plead. They ordered Afghanistan and Pakistan to provide bases and services.

That is the fundamental difference between India and US.

Indian *cannot* fight Islamic terror the way US can fight the very same enemy. That is the sad truth. The next best thing to do is be on the good side of the strongman.

Pakistan is no longer a pet of US; it is more of a harlot who does things for a certain price. Today, Pakistan is forced to listen to US for the little crumbs that are thrown at them. I am fine with this arrangement.

I am not questioning US ability to fight against terror . US is super power . But US is the creator of osama , sadam , taliban etc.. etc ... and US is loosing this proxy war . Still US army can not control beyond kabul in afghanistan . US invested heavily in paki but no control over ISI and army . US supported sadam and this man goes beyond control of US and was headache for them for 15 years .
Now question about kandhar incidence , why india didnt act like US , the reason is US . If india act like US then US will come into picture to save paki . I would like to recall 1971 memory where India was in full control of war and was in best position to occupy west pakistan also that time Nixon send 7th fleet to dare India .

People who are complaining about US dominating world politics should look back to 'Barbary Wars' in 1800s when US was not a major world power.

Those days Barbary Pirates from North Africa (in present day Libya , Algeria, Morocco , Tunisia) used capture mechant ships for ransom and taken American sailors as slaves.

In March 1785, Thomas Jefferson and John Adams went to London to negotiate with Tripoli's envoy, Ambassador Sidi Haji Abdrahaman (or Sidi Haji Abdul Rahman Adja). Upon inquiring "concerning the ground of the pretensions to make war upon nations who had done them no injury", the ambassador replied:

It was written in their Koran, that all nations which had not acknowledged the Prophet were sinners, whom it was the right and duty of the faithful to plunder and enslave; and that every mussulman who was slain in this warfare was sure to go to paradise. He said, also, that the man who was the first to board a vessel had one slave over and above his share, and that when they sprang to the deck of an enemy's ship, every sailor held a dagger in each hand and a third in his mouth; which usually struck such terror into the foe that they cried out for quarter at once.

The US subsequently went to War with these countries in what was called Barbary wars and put a an end to this naval piracy and kidnapping of its citizens

So to answer people like 'metouk' who say US is fngering in world affairs - If US was not doing it - the world would have been a lot more dangerous place.

I reluctantly agree with "Pokiri's" comments.
From ancient times till present, A tribe/Group/Country will always try to dominate others.. its human nature. The same is being done by USA while supporting enemies of its enemies.
For every move or action of USA, underlying exploitation of the natural resources (oil esp...).

Its scary to imagine the supremacy of China/Russia/N.Korea or any other middle asian countries... as there will be no degree of diplomacy at all..

Anyways..as some said in above posts..our life time is not sufficient to understand all the events/conspiracies happens or happening around the world.

Finding Peace in War :-)

A touching 2 minute video of a Boston ballroom dancer who can dance no more. All she did was go watch a fun event.

How long until the next terrorist act takes place in our backyard?
