Complaint filed against fake Press Club of India

New Delhi, Feb 1 (IANS) The Press Club of India (PCI) Friday lodged a complaint against an organization run by two people taking undue advantage of its name and misleading journalists, police said.

"We have received a complaint Friday and inquiry has been marked," a senior police officer told IANS.

According to the complaint: "S.Y. Khan and Parvez Khan are operating an organization in the name of Press Club of India bearing address 414, Pratap Bhawan, 5, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg in central Delhi having full knowledge of the fact that a registered Press Club of India has been operating since 1958."

"The organization is operating with a malafide motive to mislead the media persons and the member of the Press Club of India and thereby taking undue advantage of the registered name which is a serious offence," said the complaint, filed by PCI general secretary Anil Anand.

It said that since because this organization is running in the same name and style, the complainant frequently receives bills which are actually due from the fake Press Club of India.

"We are also receiving recovery calls," the complaint said.

The complaint also stated that the fake club of India is hosting a website with an address (pressclubofindia.co.in) similar to the original organization's web address.
