51 killed in Zambia bus accident








Lusaka, Feb 7 (IANS) At least 51 people were killed in Zambia Thursday when the bus they were travelling in collided with a truck in the southern African country, Xinhua reported.

The accident took place in Chibombo district, police said.

The bus, belonging to state-firm Postal Bus Services, was travelling from Ndola city in Copperbelt province to the capital city of Lusaka.

The bus was reportedly carrying around 70 passengers. While 10 people sustained injuries, 51 people died on the spot, police said.

The accident occurred when the truck lost control after hitting another vehicle before colliding with the bus which then turned turtle.
