Tehran, Feb 13 (IANS) Iran is continuing the installation of new uranium enrichment centrifuges at the central Natanz facility, the country's nuclear head said Wednesday. Head of Atomic Energy Organisation of Iran (AEOI) Fereidoon Abbasi's remarks came as the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and Iranian experts started a new round of talks here Wednesday to resolve the differences between the UN nuclear watchdog and Tehran over the latter's disputed nuclear programme, Xinhua reported. The installation started a month ago, and according to the schedule, the Islamic republic intends to double the number of centrifuges in Natanz, Abbasi said. Tehran Times quoted an IAEA report as saying that the number of Iran's first-generation IR1 centrifuges at Natanz site amounted to 10,500 at the end of last year. New centrifuges, the Iranian nuclear chief said, will be used for generating enriched uranium below five percent and producing 20 percent enriched uranium. On Jan 30, Iran informed the IAEA of the installation of its new uranium enrichment centrifuges in Natanz.
