Jamia students begin cycle rally








New Delhi, Feb 14 (IANS) A group of 25 students, including six girls, from Jamia Millia Islamia Thursday kick-started a 12-day cycle rally to spread awareness about water conservation and protecting the earth, a varsity official here said.

"The rally, which has six girls as its members, will travel from Narkanda, Himachal Pradesh to Delhi Feb 19-27 spreading the message of 'Save Water, Save Earth'," said an official statement from Jamia Millia Islamia.

In Himachal Pradesh, the rally was flagged off by Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh.

Starting from Narkanda on to Shimla, Solan, Chandigarh, Sirhind, Ambala and Panipat, the rally shall reach Delhi Feb 27 after covering 452 km.

The cycle rally is organised by the National Service Scheme and National Cadet Corps wings of Jamia Millia Islamia in collaboration with the ministry of youth affairs and sports and department of youth services & sports of Himachal Pradesh.
