Minsk (Belarus), Feb 15 (IANS) Turkey's Fenerbahce secured a goalless draw with Belarus's BATE Borisov in an away game after playing with 10-men for 86 minutes in the first leg of a Europa League last 32 clash in Belarusian city Grodno. At the start of the match Thursday, Portuguese international Raul Meireles was sent off after a dangerous tackle in the fourth minute on former Arsenal and Barcelona star Alexander Hleb. Fenerbahce tried to contain their rival's pressure and create danger on counterattacks, before BATE Borisov took control of the ball in the second half showing a more attacking display as the minutes passed, Xinhua reports. The return match Feb 21 might also be difficult as Fenerbahce supporters will not be allowed in the stadium due to a suspension from UEFA. Elswhere in Kiev, Ukraine's Dynamo Kiev drew with French Bordeaux. It was the first time the sides met in the UEFA competition. In the first half, the hosts piled on the pressure to build up chances through Kranchar, Haruna and Mekhmedi. Haruna Lukman scored a 20th minute goal after the Bordeaux defence failed to hold Taiwo, allowing him to give a ball to the Nigerian midfielder. Bordeaux responded quickly as Ludovic Obraniak powerfully hit a ball in the 23rd minute. Kiev controlled the entire second half, but spurned their chances, including a 75-minute penalty. The return leg is set to be played Feb 21 at Stade Chaban-Delmas.
