Parenting, though a great blessing, is not easy. It becomes even more complicated when we are raising our children in a country that we are still adjusting to ourselves in one way or the other. The group is about creating a space where immigrant parents like us can feel supported. Through our discussions and sharing we can help each other face the day to day challenges of raising our children far from our families, and in a cultural environment that is very different from the ones we were raised in ourselves. As immigrants and parents in Canada we have so many questions – related to disciplining, resources/facilities available for our families and children, schooling system, child care choices available, handling differences in values etc. The group’s database has links to various websites/resources that provide information on all these topics and more. If you are an immigrant parent in Canada or can support this group through your expertise, we welcome you. We only request that you to participate through initiating and/or responding to discussion topics at least once a month to keep this forum alive and active.
