   ...Tamil Culture is entirely difft. from North Indian one. Tamils are basically more conservative, sentimental, preserve family values, not changed much in attitude with decades pass by. But North Indian society has changed a lot with time, less family sentiments, more liberal and more materialistic. These were my observations.

   ...It's difficult to survive in 24K living expense with a family (unless you don't have to pay rent/mortgage). You should not convert CAD savings into Indian Rs. unless you are here for short term and plan to go back to India. If somebody is living in Canada and the other guy in India, then Indian guy earning Rs. 10 lacs is a little better-off than Canadian guy earning 70K. I am just talking about salary - no other consideration.

I know it can be done 6 months before expiry and 1 yr after expiry. My wife's passport expired in June,09 and our citizenship application is in process. We were hoping to have it done before May 2010. Is that fine or we need to get indian one renewed only to have it turned back in a few months?

   ...r an emergency visa. You get it on the same day. It is more expensive but if she is of Indian origin, she'll probably get it. Since you are paying almost 3 times the fee, they usually don't refuse. Applicants of non Indian origin sometimes have trouble getting it though. It is somewhat a gamble because they won't let you apply before 72 hrs. prior to your departure. But if you are refused, it's too late to get a regular visa and you are essentially hosed at that point.

   ...Toronto has better public transit system than surrounding areas in GTA. Subway is pretty good. If you say GTA that would include Brampton Transit and Mississauga Transit. Wait times for a bus during winter and snow.. less said the better! Connectivity between various transit systems is another issue!
