Even during ramadan, now-a-days bars are open, even people are caught on drink driving go free after paing a fine (ofcourse if nobody is hurt). People are buying properties over here from indian subcontinent. Only thing is insecurity, you are woking at very good position and tommorrow you may be no where. Even in Dubai you have a tempke, people do celebrate holi and Diwali openly and national also participate. But always something is missing, everything is superficial, everything is related to shopping and dining, cultural heritage may be missing. ...

   driving license: ...r my indian licence.I gave the original and he asked for the verification by embassy.I had my DL photo copied and got it attested by the Indiam Embassy at Riyadh.The guy said it is not enough.Only the stamp and signature of the consular is just not enough.He says it should be written that holder of passport # so and so his driving licence # is .... etc and then say it is verified.I argued with him how an embassy will stamp and sign without seeing and verifying the original.He said sorry, and said go to Indian embassy in toronto and do it.It is a clear case that this guy wants it to be done in toronto indian embassy. IMO it is a must to visit place especially if you are in GTA . Just make sure you have enough food with you as not many options available in vicinity . If you go to West entrance instead of east you can save 50 KM drive . Be prepared to walk as they have many many beautiful trails to explore .

When I went to Indian consulate in Toronto last week for my kid's passport renewal, I was told that it would take 2 weeks to get the passport by mail. They also keep the PR card and it is also sent by mail along with the passport. I wasn't happy with that. Waiting for the passport and PR card!!!

The Uber driver dragged the cabbie for 20 feet and ran a red light as he was scared for his life. The cabbie might be Sri Lankan too as he was really dark skinned, so my apologies if he wasn't Indian.
