Indian Embassy Canada needs to get verification / confirmation from the earlier issuing Authority and in case of delay in getting this information , they issue a new Passport initially for 1 year , but after 4-5 months , if you visit them / reapply for an extension , they can do so w/o any fees , if they have received the verification by then .

   ...I bought mine at the Dundas Fruits and Vegetables store (desi grocery) near Hwy 10 and Dundas road intersection in Mississauga. Cost me 45 bucks, but it was worth it. Other desi grocery stores may carry them too, but many times these are damaged in one way or another. The challenge is to find a good one.

As soon as you become a Canadian citizen, you lose Indian citizenship. Also they are forcing you to sign the renunciation form in case you want to get any visa/OCI/PIO, which again is wrong.    ...We have been called for the judge interview on 30th july. does anyone have any idea what kind of questions the judge asks. Are they very strict in mississauga. Pls tell us of your past experiences if any???tks... It will help us prepare better for the interview.

There is a significant indian population in Calgary, so don't have to worry about grocery, temple, indian channels etc. Your saving depends on your life style in general. Say $1500 for rent, 30% taxes, you may be able to save some decent money. ...

   ...I think OCI just wants to give hard time to people. They know they can take a note and record of all documents like Landed Paper, Old Indian passport and valid canadian passport. If 2 out of 3 documents are matching they should ask for other picture ID like driving licence, health Card and take a record of all available names if there is minor difference and go ahead with most accurate document whichever reasonable as far as Date of Birth and birth place and document ID numbers are given.
