If it is for food .... you get every thing here If it is for family and friends ..... go there frequently If it is for your kids .... they will be much better of here If it is for your aging parents: YES .. you need to have a plan to stay in INDIA and take care of them and give them happiness till their last journey....

   Are you sure?: ... in - laws came from India to Canada, the agent told them that International boarding rules stated that you should be denied boarding if you hold a passport with less than 6 months validity. You must check with the Indian Home ministry or the Indian foreign affairs ministry IN INDIA to be sure. To be safe, I would suggest that you renew your cdn. passport on an emergency basis. As to the OCI questions, as long as you are above 18 and less then 65, your OCI in an expired cdn. passport is valid even if you have a new. foreign passport. It seems money would not be a problem for you initially so you at least don't have to worry about food on the table. My suggestion would be to keep all options open, try out life as you imagine over here & give it 12-18 months.
