SUCCESS COMES TO THOSE WHO PERSEVERE...: ... 10 years in Canada, we (husband & wife) landed in April, 2005
• We are now a family of 4, had both my kids here (son and daughter)
• Came with $15,000 from Mumbai
• Thought process has changed in these 10 years, life here has made me more matured, and now I look at life from a different perspective than what I used to before landing here. Is it because I am 10 years older……maybe, who knows? :-)
• Been to India practically every year to visit parents and meet other social obligations
• Bought a house in Mississauga (prime location), and a new car
• Lead a disciplined life, worked smart, invested and also saved (yes, it's possible in Canada!!)
• Total net worth about ...

...nking of migrating, or have recently landed in Canada can look forward to various advantages/benefits, some of which are mentioned hereunder:
1. The factor of multiplication is a big benefit - 35 to 1. Due to this factor, a person doing similar job for same no of hours back home can get make roughly 4-5 times the money in Indian Rupee terms.
2. For many, if not all, a social status back home that - vo to phoren main rahta hai.

It is as expected: ...Hi All,
I am not touching the point, what items are recommended for gifts and their availability back home. The point is, as OP says, you may expect following when visiting India, first or subsequent visit.
You will spend for cab/ food/ stay and everything. The relation, being elder/ younger won’t matter; the only rule is you NRI, you spend. By the way, they will not let go any chance of explaining how rich they are; but spending you do. They will tell you how cheap it is calling from India to other countries, but will never make a call.
In our first ever visit after six years of leaving India,...

Thanks Fido, the country we live has no Indian grocery neither an Indian restaurant, we have to ship masalas, atta (wheat flour) from States, trust me its very annoying to eat one haldiram pack of Bhujia for a week, taking care not to finish it else there won't be any. The first time we landed in Toronto we had three restaurants in line at queen street under our apartment building, I ate day-night continuously for 10 days from them and loved looking at Bhuna hua corns being made, jalebis at Gerrard street, I think in our case the quote "Beggars are not choosers" suffixed. We'll surely check out the res...

...e area & whether it is basement, house, apartment, floor, etc.
If you are getting a car, cost of living per month would be around $2000 per month for a family of 3-4. This is the basic cost without any luxuries. Odd jobs like labour jobs in factory, fast-food restaurant jobs like Tim Hortons, McDonalds, security, cleaning, jobs are easy to find. Retail sales jobs if you have the aptitude may also be easy.
Be prepared to do odd jobs for the rest of your life.
