Think about all the issues there - rape, corruption to get children into schools, hit and runs, bomb blasts, unhygenic food, scams etc. I am not saying all that does not happen in Canada but to a much lesser extent and if it does happen to you, at least the police/govt generally tries to help. Its your sweat & hard work & money on the line, not their ass on the line. To each his own . Keep the money in India at 8 % - 9 % in Fixed Deposit. Then slowly & steadily bring the money into Canada. Right now the exchange rate is bad anyways, so don't convert INR to CAD. Broke ass Canada won't even give you 2 % interest on your money. ...

When I had my indian credit card and used it in Canada, they charged premium. I did not use my canadian credit card in India. I went to a small town, so credit cards were of no use anyway! Some businesses would charge 2-3% extra for credit cards. If you use it for buying air tickets in india, I think they would charge you USD fare (at least Indian Airlines would), which is a bit expensive than regular rate....
