Denying pak negotiations, trade etc are actually the least India could do to retaliate against them. Why cant they upgrade security, Intelligence, Armed forces and look further and beyond Pak denying them everything. They talk about super power, economic power and all the BS, but are unable to see beyond the dirty neighbourhood.

I know that the OP did not mention any of this - merely asked what starting a business, would entail. A wholesome, and balanced view of life here would help the OP make a right decision. There are some part of your response that are more a matter of opinion, rather than fact: @@ The Canadian way is to invest in a Franchise. You need a brand name to attract customer. It was also wrong to say that the ship was occupied forcibly by Indian authorities. They were roaming in Indian waters off Tamil Nadu coast for more than 3 or 4 weeks. Since they were acting clandestinely they did not enter any of the ports nearby. They also illegally bought fuel from fishermen, some of them tipped off the authorities.
